MMBI progress

God’s Word Ministry ‘opened the doors’ of its Mount Mulanje Bible Institute (MMBI) in January 2025, offering a two-year Bible subjects programme using materials supplied by Johannesburg Bible College.

In November 2025, Andrew Marsay (Chairman of GWM UK) visited Malawi with partners from South Africa and Mozambique, to review progress at MMBI.

MMBI ethos

From its inception in 2013, God’s Word Ministry in Malawi has taught the importance of whole life discipleship, not simply professions of faith. This is reflected in MMBI’s ethos: while we want our students to handle the Bible well, the lifestyle of both staff and students, is to be that of our Lord Jesus Christ, who emptied himself by assuming the form of the servant, taking on the likeness of humanity… Our prayer is that through this servanthood ethos, along with in-depth teaching of the Bible, MMBI students will be able to challenge the worldly ethos that characterises so much of Christian ministry in our country.

MMBI premises

The college currently meets in a rented house close to the centre of Mulanje town. We are already at the maximum number of students we can accommodate. Recently, we have been helped to purchase a site on the edge of Mulanje for development of a purpose-built college campus. (see picture). Our prayer is that we will be able to start this project early in 2027.

Please continue to pray for God's continued blessing on our work in Malawi, for the leadership and students. And please also prayerfully consider giving financially as we continue to support this growing work. Thank you.
